Β The classic criss-cross cookie gets an update with cashew butter, chocolate and sprinkles!
By now, you know I have a gazillion different quirks – many I’ve shared. The newest –Β fork size.
I cannot stand the dinner fork. The size is too awkward for comfortably dining. Don’t get me wrong – it has its uses – like piercing potatoes to test for doneness or making criss crosses in cookies π
But it has no business acting like an eating instrument.
That’s where the salad fork comes in π At least I won’t be going to any fancy dinner parties in the near future where this activity would be frowned upon!
Today Iβm sharing the recipe for these Criss-Cross Cashew Butter cookies on My Cooking Spot. (a perfectly acceptable excuse to use the dinner fork!) Forget the classic peanut butter cookie – this cashew butter version is more fun since it’s dipped in chocolate AND has sprinkles!

Mary Ann | The Beach House Kitchen says
Great idea to use cashew butter Megan! And I love the chocolate and sprinkles. These are perfect for a Monday!
The Emotional Baker says
I agree! Thanks Mary Ann π
Gayle @ Pumpkin 'N Spice says
Haha I’ve never thought about the dinner sized fork before! Sometimes I swear it’s really the same as the salad fork at restaurants, and other places, it’s very easy to tell the difference. These cookies look delicious, Megan! I’ve never used cashew butter in cookies before, so I’m loving this flavor! Heading over to check out the recipe!
The Emotional Baker says
Adding cashew butter makes these cookies dreamy π Thanks Gayle!
Dawn @ Girl Heart Food says
The perfect day to share a cookie recipe – Monday! These look delicious and love the combo of cashew butter and chocolate. Gotta have those sprinkles too π
The Emotional Baker says
Sprinkles are the best π Thanks Dawn!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine says
That’s why I like to eat with chop sticks π
The Emotional Baker says
ha ha! Good solution, Rebecca π Thank you!
Shashi at RunninSrilankan says
I love your use of cashew butter – a nice contrast to the peanut butter and almond butter I often use – and added oomph that these are dipped in chocolate! Btw, I have to eat most all my dishes with a spoon – with the exception of some meats – but, I understand your dilemma, the salad fork is perfectly sized!
The Emotional Baker says
Spoons do come in handy sometimes π Thanks Shashi!
Cheyanne @ No Spoon Necessary says
LOL! Seriously girl, with all your quirks I TOTALLY feel like we are cut from the same cloth! I always use a salad fork to eat too! I put a “normal size” fork out for Boy and I always use a small one. He loves to make fun of me, but I don’t care. π Anyways, these cookies look absolutely delicious.. and SO pretty! I’ll take at least a dozen! Cheers, sweets!
The Emotional Baker says
Sending two dozen your way π Thanks Cheyanne!
John says
Luv your cookie recipe I disagree with your fork choice though
The Emotional Baker says
ok, John, fine by me.
Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious says
Girl, I get you! I think you’re the only one who feels the way I do about regular forks. They’re big & bulky and I’m always missing my mouth. People think I’m crazy. Good to know I’m not the only one! These cookies sound amazing too. Cashew butter makes everything so buttery good.
The Emotional Baker says
Yay for salad fork fans π Thanks Megan!
Karen @ Seasonal Cravings says
I am obsessed with cashew butter and now love it more than peanut butter. It tastes so good in baked goods. My son with a peanut allergy would love these cute cookies!
The Emotional Baker says
I think he would, too! Thanks Karen π
Stacey @ The Sugar Coated Cottage says
The fork quirk is cute. In my house we never seem to have all the same size forks clean at the same time, so when (if) I set the table each person gets a different size fork, lol. I love these cashew cookies and the fact they are dipped in chocolate and sprinkles makes me love them even more. Take care.
The Emotional Baker says
Thanks Stacey! Hope I luck up and get a small one π
Zainab says
Hhaha that is a weird quark indeed lol! I love these cookies. Cashew butter is underused in my kitchen and I need to change that.
The Emotional Baker says
You should use cashew butter more often. It is so delicious π Thanks Zainab!
Rachelle @ Beer Girl Cooks says
You’re too funny with your fork quirk! I love these cookies with the chocolate and sprinkles! I’m really going to have to try some cashew butter!
The Emotional Baker says
Cashew butter is the best π Thanks Rachelle!
Eva @ Eva Bakes says
How fun are these? These cookies are a great criss-cross cookie alternative for us weird people (*raising hand*) who don’t eat peanut butter. And sprinkles ALWAYS make desserts taste better!
The Emotional Baker says
I agree! PB’s overrated anyway π Thanks Eva!
Anu - My Ginger Garlic Kitchen says

The Emotional Baker says
Thank you, Anu!

Mir says
You are KIDDING. I also use the salad fork for dinner!! I have small hands and the bigger one is hard for me. I also like to use the smaller plates. Big plates make me nervous. π
These cookies are heaven! I agree that the best use for a regular fork is making those delightful marks.
The Emotional Baker says
yea – I don’t like big plates either! Thanks Mir π
Demeter | Beaming Baker says
I love all of your quirks! π Quirks in general totally keep life interesting. π Meanwhile, love how buttery and perfectly sweet these cookies look, Megan. I’d love to have these on my holiday table, with the sprinkles’ color changing to correlate with the specific holiday. Yummy!
The Emotional Baker says
That’s a great idea! Thanks Demeter π
Kelly says
Lol, yes! I totally use a salad fork because the dinner fork is too big! Love the cashew butter in these cookies!

Hahaha…I totally understand you on this post! I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it myself, but I have fork issues, too. I don’t mind the dinner fork for dinner…but when it comes to desserts, I need MINI! So much so that we have a set of mini forks (smaller than salad) and mini spoons JUST for desserts. π Can I eat these cookies with a mini fork? Please? They look delicious!
The Emotional Baker says
Oh goodness! Mini forks and spoons!! That sounds like just what I need π Thanks David!
