Double Chocolate Walnut Cookies

October 12, 2015 by The Emotional Baker 28 Comments

Chocolate Walnut Cookie

A chocolate cookie accented with walnuts and chocolate chips I love the idea of pretty clothes, but I always wear the same thing - v-neck or scoopneck tees with shorts or jeans. You'd think this would be a pretty easy outfit to pull off, but for some reason I always ruin my shirts. At first, I would always get holes at the bottom. I thought they were just from being worn regularly, but then I realized it was from picking up my cat, Punk'n. He always grips down at the ...

Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispy Treats

Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispy Treat

Rice krispy treats get a makeover with peanut butter, chocolate and sprinkles I've mentioned before about how my tastes have changed as I've aged. Another area is movies/TV. I used to love spending hours with my mom going to the movies and watching TV shows. I still cherish these memories. But now I cringe at the thought of sitting in a movie theater. I guess it's because I hate the idea of being stuck in one place, not being able to look outside. I much prefer watching a movie at ...

Lime Cookies with Grape Frosting + Giveaway

Lime Cookies

Zesty cookies topped with a light grape frosting What's your opinion on end pieces? Should they be eaten, thrown away, used as a freshness protector? I hate to waste anything, so I'm on the eaten/use as freshness protector side. - But - I also have one sorta picky eater - who will only eat the freshest/best items. He'll deny it - but I know it's true. I usually sacrifice and eat the end piece, but that's not good for taste testing purposes. The end piece is typically the ...

Lemon Sandwich Cookies with Strawberry Lemon Buttercream Frosting

Lemon Sandwich Cookies

Citrus cookies filled with strawberry lemon frosting I'm the quietest chick you'll ever meet. & believe me when I say, it's not a bad thing. I've heard my whole life, "you're so quiet!" Well, so what if I am? I wasn't blessed with the gene of having something to say or knowing what to say. Sure, maybe it's held me back in certain situations, but I'm sure it's helped me in more ways than I'll ever know. Each person is different and you just have to accept that. So, all you ...

{Easy} Granola Cookies

April 27, 2015 by The Emotional Baker 30 Comments

Granola Cookies

An easy cookie filled with banana, granola, oats and chocolate chips  This week marks one year since I sustained a stress fracture to my inferior pubic ramus. It's been a challenge both mentally and physically. The first three months, I tried to deny that it happened. I tried to run. & when I finally realized I couldn't, I resorted to walking - even though it hurt. I walked too much and too fast. Every month or so I'd try to run again. I thought maybe KT Tape would help, or compression ...

But never fear, just scoop the remaining in a microwave safe bowl, microwave for a minute, and enjoy. ‘Cause you have to taste test anyway right? 😜

Sourdough Cracker Recipe Inspired by @feastingathome
Perfect. • It’s something we try so hard to ac Perfect.
•
It’s something we try so hard to achieve.
•
But at times it can leave us feeling tired, unworthy, and not “as good” as our peers.
•
Trying to get the perfect photo, something I use to love to do, started to drain me out more than fill me up.
•
So I haven’t been taking as many photos.
•
Getting the perfect photo would lead to my family eating cold pancakes while I tried to get that award winning shot. Or an hour of clean up picking up all the leftover sprinkles I used for my fancy backdrop.
•
So this Easter I kept things easy. I shot a few quick photos of these Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls with my iPhone and left my DSLR and natural light to the side.
•
The Emotional Baker of a year ago would gasp that I’m posting this photo.
•
But here’s the truth: Every day’s perfect, even if it goes unplanned. Every meal, every moment with loved ones, every walk, everything you do each and everyday is perfect. And just as it’s intended to be.
•
Here’s to a day of finding bliss in the imperfect and knowing it truly is perfect just as it is.
•
Happy Easter!
